Party Poker Shootouts

Party Poker Shootouts

Party Poker shootouts were recently introduced on Party Poker's website.  These tournaments are great for players who excel at the single table sit-n-go, but want an opportunity to win big cash for a relatively small entry.

What is a Shootout?

A "shootout" is a no-limit holdem poker tournament.  It is a multi-table tournament, composed of individual table tournaments, and involves 4 rounds of play.

How it works

All players who register for the shootout poker tournament are seated at a table of 9 or 10 players for the first round.  Each table plays an individual tournament, with players vying for the top 3 positions.  No new players are added to the table at any time.  When the table is down to 3 players, the round ends, and those persons are each awarded a cash prize, based on their finishing position.  The person with the most chips is awarded first position, and wins the largest payout.  The player with second-most chips is second, and so on.

When all tables have completed round 1, round 2 begins.  The top three players from each table (in round 1) are again placed on a 9 or 10 person table, and an individual tournament begins.  The top three from that round are again awarded cash prizes, and move on to round 3.

Round 4 consists of all players who placed in the top 3 positions on their tables in round 3.  It is then run as a classic multi-table tournament, with tables collapsing and players being moved around.  Top three positions are paid out.

Why Play Shootouts?

  • they provide 4 opportunities to win cash

  • each round is played as an individual tournament, so more chance to win

  • allows opportunity to play short-handed (as players are eliminated)

  • good way to fine-tune sit-n-go skills while playing for larger cash prizes

  • they are an enormous amount of fun
