Antonio Esfandiari Biography

Antonio Esfandiari Poker Player Biography

Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari was born in Tehran in 1978, and moved to the Unites States at 9 years of age.  Antonio's birth name was actually Amir, but he changed it to Anthony and then Antonio to curb teasing in school.  Antonio attended college for a while, until he discovered his passion for magic.  He left college to become a magician for private parties.

Antonio began playing poker at 19, and has achieved much success since that time.  Among his achievements are:

  • 2002 - 3rd in the Lucky Chances World Poker Tour Event
  • 2004 - won World Series of Poker $2000 Pot Limit Holdem event
  • 2004 - won the WPT L.A. Poker Classic - $1,400,000
  • 2004 - 6th in the World Poker Tour Invitational
  • 2006 - 11th in the Aussie Millions Tournament - $37,658

Antonio has earned over $2,270,000 to date.  He currently resides in San Jose, and promotes the online poker room Ultimate Bet.  Antonio has recently published his first book, World Poker Tour(TM): In the Money .
