Chris Moneymaker Biography
Chris Moneymaker Poker Player Biography
Chris Moneymaker turns $40 into $2.5 million dollars.

A rise in poker’s popularity since 2003 can be attributed partly to a Tennessee accountant named Chris Moneymaker. Chris entered a $40 online Texas hold’em poker tournament at Poker Stars and turned that in to $2.5 million. Chris hadn’t even played live in a casino before.
A Small Investment Pays Off
Moneymaker entered a $40 buy-in no-limit tournament and beat 18 players, winning a seat into a World Series of Poker satellite. From there, Chris worked his way to winning a $10,000 main event ticket.
During the WSOP in Las Vegas, Moneymaker’s stack began to grow and he found himself sitting next to some of the best players in the world. At one point Chris was watching Johnny Chan ponder a re-raise from Howard Lederer. Chris was wondering why Chan was taking so long to make his move when Johnny said, “You know it’s on you, right?” He was referring to the cards Moneymaker hadn’t folded yet.
Chris displayed his amateur status a few times, but was still able to beat the entire field of opponents and win the $2.5 million WSOP 2003 main event.
Chris Moneymaker frequently plays at Poker Starsunder the name Money800. You can win a main event seat like Chris by entering a WSOP satellite. Who knows you may be the next Moneymaker!
