Dan Harrington Poker Player Biography
Dan Harrington has pretty much done it all. Besides being a successful professional poker player, he previously was a backgammon champion, a chess master and a bankruptcy attorney. Dan began seriously playing poker in the 80s at the Mayfair Club in New York. He played with other future professionals like Howard Lederer and Erick Seidel. Although his nickname is "Action Dan", it is a bit of a deception. Dan gave himself this name to confuse his opponents, as he is typically a tight/aggressive player.
Among Dan's greatest poker accomplishments:
- 1987 - placed 6th in World Series of Poker main event
- 1995 - Won the WSOP main event ($1,000,000)
- 1995 - Won WSOP $2500 No-limit holdem event ($249,000)
- 1995 - won the 7 Card Stud event at the European Poker Open
- 2003 - 3rd in WSOP main event ($650,000)
- 2004 - 4th in WSOP main event ($1,500,000)
- 2005 - 2nd in the World Poker Tour's Doyle Brunson North American Championship ($620,730)
- 4 money finishes in WPT events
- as of 2005, winnings exceed $4,400,000
