Phil Ivey- Poker Player Biography
Phil Ivey, undisputedly one of today's best young poker players, was born in 1976 in Riverside, California. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to New Jersey, which put Phil in close proximity to Atlantic City. At the age of 8, Phil's grandfather taught him to play poker, and fostered a deep desire to improve. As early as his teenage years, Phil was determined to become a professional gambler, against his family's wishes.

At the age of 18, Phil began frequenting several poker rooms in Atlantic City. With a fake id under the name Jerome Graham, he was able to access casinos which would normally be off-limits to a teenager. By 20, he'd made the move to Atlantic City, so he could devote more time to his poker endeavors.
In the year 2000, Phil made his first appearance at the World Series of Poker - and was very successful. He made the final table of 2 events, and won his first WSOP bracelet in the $2500 pot limit Omaha event. To win this tournament, he had to beat such poker greats as Amarillo Slim, Devilfish Ulliott, and Phil Hellmuth. In 2002, he maintained his winning streak at the World Series of Poker, and won 3 bracelets (for 7 card stud, stud hi/lo, and SHOE). In 2005, Phil one an additional bracelet in the $5000 pot limit Omaha event.
Phil Ivey has had an impressive showing at the World Poker Tour events, as well. Overall, he has made it to the final table 6 times, two of which occurred in 2005. Though he has not won a WPT event to date, his winnings equal an amazing $1,153,796.
Most recently, Phil won the Monte Carlo Million Tournament and the FullTiltPoker.net invitational.
