Is Poker out now that Hockey is back in?
We don't think so... As a hockey fan, do you ever get a chance to play against the NHL players? You can play the professional poker players you see on the TV online (or live if you win a seat at the WPT or qualifying tournaments). What keeps people playing poker today is that you can play like a poker pro, you can play against a poker pro and you can play better than a poker pro. Playing like a pro takes a bit of time, reading the books, logging the hours and learning from every hand. You can play against the poker pro online or by entering a tournament that takes you to a televised event. Playing better than the pro is not as difficult as you might think. You can be a pro online in very little time. Let's face it, you can play online against players from all over the world and most aren't that good! I would have to say that I have definitely become a huge poker fan. I play almost every day online. I have made some extra cash (something I couldn't do watching hockey - unless of course I was betting on a game with my friends). That being said I can easily have the TV on while playing poker. I could easily play poker and watch hockey. I think there is room for both. There just seems to be a lot more interaction with poker. Poker is here to stay. In fact it's been here for a long time already. It's just that the TV and internet are making poker a big attraction. Let's face it, there are so many places you can play the game. I have been playing poker for 2 years and have had an awesome time. My best tournament finish is 1st in a 450 player no-limit multi. I won $5625 and it only cost me $50. When you trap a player with pocket aces and take them out of the tournament you will know why poker is here to stay! - Mike California, USA |
