Sit N Go Strategy Sit n Go Poker Tournament StrategyThere many ways to beat the sit n go poker tournament. Generally, 2 styles of sit n go strategy (aggression or survival) are used at the poker table. Your style may depend on whether your goal is to place in the money (survival) or to accumulate chips quickly (aggressive).Aggressive StyleEarly in the tournament, when the blinds are still low, some players will make aggressive moves that jeopardize their entire stack. These players take larger risks in the hopes of eliminating a player out and doubling up right away. After doubling up, this player has the ability to bully the table with additional aggressive moves. Being able to cover other players all-in chip amounts is a great form of intimidation during the tournament. The bigger stack generally has the advantage, as he can play more loosely, comfortable in the knowledge that he can't be eliminated in one hand. By making aggressive moves early in the tournament, they have increased their chances of winning. The downside to this aggressive style is the very real risk of being eliminated in the first couple of hands. Survival Mode If you are hoping to just make it into the money (top 3 positions), you should avoid confrontations whenever you don't have premium cards. Playing tight means you probably won't get involved in too many hands in the first 15-20 minutes. By doing so, you are hoping that 3 or 4 players will make their move and hopefully be taken out of the tournament. You are hoping to make it to the money and are not too concerned with the tournament win. You are happy to collect 3rd place knowing you made a bit more than your entry fee. The Perfect Style The best way to increase your chances of not only making the money but of winning the tournament, is by combining the 2 styles. Play conservatively until either 5 players are gone or your chip stack is getting within 8 times the big blind. This means playing only premium hands and not jeopardizing your entire stack unless you know you have the best hand possible. Once there are 5 players left in a single table tournament you can now start your aggressive play. Up until this point you have displayed a tight image. Players will give you respect and you can take advantage of this. The bubble can be tricky (4 players left) so make sure you don't over play your aggressive style. With practice you will know when to start your aggressive play. Timing and observation will be a key part in each sit n go tournament you play.
